An Open Letter to the Members of the D.C. Bar Association in Support of our Colleague Brad Bondi

We, the undersigned members of the DC Bar Association, write to affirm our respect for Brad Bondi’s character, professionalism, and integrity. As lawyers representing the full political spectrum and a wide range of legal disciplines we stand together to recognize Brad’s unwavering commitment to our legal community and to address misconceptions about his intentions.

Brad Bondi has long been a pillar of the DC Bar. Over 26 years as an active member, he has served with distinction, including six years in elected leadership roles and two decades of Bar-sponsored pro bono work. Twice elected to the steering committee of the Corporation, Finance and Securities Law Community, and currently co-chairing Paul Hastings’ investigations and white collar defense practice, Brad has proven himself a diligent and capable professional.

His career—spanning over 20 years in private practice and two in public service—reflects a dedication to the law, not to partisan agendas.

Some have questioned whether Brad seeks to politicize the Bar. We reject this notion outright. Brad has consistently stayed above the political fray, emphasizing, “The Bar has a non-partisan mission, which I intend to vigilantly protect.” His focus—on efficiency, pro bono expansion, and practical benefits like free continuing legal education—draws from his extensive, non-partisan leadership at the Atlantic Council and DC Bar sections. His efforts began months before federal elections, independent of national politics, and he has pledged to keep Bar activities free from such influence.

Brad’s record speaks for itself: three elections to Bar leadership, 20 years of pro bono service, and a career rooted in integrity. Those who know him—across political lines and practice areas—see a lawyer devoted to strengthening our profession, not bending it to any ideology. We write not to campaign, but to defend a colleague whose character and contributions deserve recognition. Brad Bondi embodies the values that unite us as a Bar, and we are proud to call him one of our own.

Sincerely,
